I haven't been taking good care of my self lately, My last A1C was 13.8 and they said it is very bad. I had blood sugars ranging in the 300, 400, 500, or more! Anyways well, I told myself I am not going to let diabetes carry me to my grave. So I started taking my shots on time, eating healthier, exercising, and been taking these pills called Lisinopril. It is suppose to help my kidneys and my blood pressure. Well to me, this past month I have been doing way better than I have normally been doing. So today I went to the doctors and my A1C has went up to 14! I am thinking, what the heck have I been doing wrong. Of course it is not perfect, I been ranging in 200 or 300 range, but not bad as 500+? I been under a lot of stress with work, girl friend, and pretty much life? Maybe that has made it go up? Any one got an answer for me?

Even though you have gotten back on the wagon (so to speak), the A1C is an average of the last 3 months. You are doing better but those higher numbers (400's, 500's) are still in your system. If I am mistaken, then someone else feel free to correct my erroneous thinking.:)
Are you low carbing? How many times a day are you testing? Do you do corrections on your own or do you consult your endo/doctor before making any changes? Stress can play a big role.

I think Cin has a point, if you have only recently made those positive changes they will not be reflected in your recent A1c. Try look forward to your next A1c as that will show an improvement as you are getting your numbers down and don't focus on the recent A1c, take that as your starting point.
Don't let the recent A1c deter you or give you a reason to lapse. Stick with the "new you" and your A1c's will improve.

I test on average 2-3 times a day. I am trying to test more often such as 5-8 times a day instead. I spoke with my endo, they changed me carb count to 10 to 1 units. and my lantus to 38. Hopefully I will do better, and plan on being a better diabetic! :)
