For a pre-d is exercise the only thing we can do to reduce a high? Not on meds.

Lets say I am at 249...? That is my first fasting higher than 140 ever!

Invisible children thing put a lot of stress on me I guess.

Exercise and water. Other than that, I'm not aware of anything else that will help.

You stated that that is a fasting level and you frequently have fastings as high as 140? If that's the case that is well beyond pre-D. (Two fastings of 126 or higher is full blown D). That is time to consider insulin or other meds.

I do one other thing. Other than for DP, I re-test hourly and do not eat till it is down.

But I have not gotten that high in some time, either.

Some people say that a teaspoon or two of coconut oil helps bring their BG down. I would think that an ounce or two of hard liquor would help, too.

I know a guy that eats a piece of toast when his sugars are high, and they always come down. The theory is he's triggering an insulin dump. I can't recommend it because I can't try it.

If you did indeed have a fasting of 249 and that was with clean hands and all. Then you're a fullblown diabetic most likely! Can't come up with any good ideas how to get such a reading down though, since my only way possible is to take an insulin correction:o

That is my first fasting that high! Only my 3rd 200+ reading in 2 months. My fasting sits normally around 90-115. Only occasionally will it get higher than that.

They won't put me on meds/insulin because with just exercise/diet I can mostly regulate my BG's... and with that being said they are afriad of me going hypo more than I already am.

Aslso, can't see a doctor again until... August. Plus my a1C is nowhere near as high as a full blown D with out meds/insulin.

With numbers like that you should be seeing a doctor. Take care of yourself and get the meds you need now.

Hardingnerd, I hope you don't mind me saying this but if your doctor won't/can't see you again until August, you should probably be looking for a new one.
