I just went "live" with Insulin about 3 hours ago and I must say I am "pumped" about being on a pump:D
A little background, I was DXed in 01 and have been Insulin dependent for about 4 years. I am 47 and have been trying to get on a pump for years. Not to long ago, my Dr sent a flier to me about a webcast from Medtronic with a note on the bottom asking me to attend.
I had kind of given up on the pump idea but I though why not. So I attended the webcast. After which I called and they took my info and someone got back to me a few days later. They told me I was an excellent candidate for a pump and that they would contact my Dr and my Insurance Co.
A few weeks later, I got a call from Medtronic that the claim had been denied, but that my Dr was working on an appeal.
About two weeks later, Medtronic calls and tells me that they are shipping a pump to me and I had it in my hot little hand within 24 hours, oh yea the the denial was reversed.
I would say "long story short" but it is way too late.
anyway, I am now pumping Insulin with a Medtronic MiniMed Paradigm 722, and am here to learn from all of you about my new found freedom from the dreaded needle.
Sorry for the long post but I'm sure you will understand my excitement.
