Hello :) I am, obviously, new to this group. I live in Missouri am engaged and have two daughters the ages of 14 and 13. I am 31. Our wedding will be April, 2010..so exciting! My finace' and I are hoping to have a baby next year...but am nervous due to my diabetes. I've not had such a good road with it, I was diagnosed when I was pregnant in 1994. We thought it would go away, but it didn't, so I've been Type 1 for 14 almost 15 years now. I'm so ready to start taking care of myself MUCH better then I had been..but I need support from those that understand..suggestions (especially when it comes to eatting)...and some positive motivation. I have a GREAT doctor...I don't mind taking my shots..I HATE checking my sugar...and I TOTALLY LOVE bread! So, as you can see, I have some obsticals to overcome.
Anyways, I look forward to "meeting" you all and sharing/receiving ideas and understanding.
Have a good week!

Hi Krissy & Welcome.

I don't need to tell you how important it is to test, especially when taking insulin. It's the only way to know which foods you do well with and which foods cause a big spike in blood sugar.

You can eat bread, or any foods for that matter, but do so in moderation. Whole wheat or whole grain is much better for you than white.

Have you considered a pump?
