metformin and sore liver

Has anyone notice a relation between taking metformin and getting a sore liver? It is like clockwork. Pop a metformin, and the next day my rib cage is uncomfortable. Maybe I have been on this stuff too long?

One of the things I do is check the side-effects of my drugs. Check metformin. Also, talk to your doctor about this and see about getting on a new drug. I no longer take metformin because of problems with it. I'm finding Januvia a much better choice for me.

All people are different. Our reactions to medications are different. Don't let this go. Get in to see your doctor and let him/her know you're having a real problem.

Yes, My liver hurts after I take my metformin. I usually pat it while watching tv and that helps, if it gets too sore I take 2 milk thistle. If I told my doc everything, well let's just say there is too much to mention. I keep a good council and take it one day at a time.;)

How much are you taking and are you taking extended release? Started last month with 500mg pills and have not noticed yet.
