Eye dr. visit

Everyone knows an eye doctor visit is nothing to worry about and yet when I went yesterday I was shaking! I had a hard time sitting still enough to get checked for crying out loud!:(

After careful thought and consideration I think I expected to hear bad news. This is probably b/c I was just dx with diabetes and kidney issues all within 6 months so I expected the worse and the thought of it terrified me. I am already hard of hearing as it is. This was all subconcious though and did not come out until I was there. It was embarassing b/c I could not get control of my shaking.

They did a really cool test (I do not know the name of it) where they did a 360 picture of my eye-I saw all the blood vessels, etc. They all looked great and now I have a baseline. I am even going to try contacts since they have improved contacts for people with stigmatisms. I have had glasses for 5 years now.

Finally some good news. Just had to share.;)

I'm so glad you'r eye visit went well. I've worn glasses since age 14, never minded the visits...but after diabetes, I dread them horribly. Silly, I know, but I can't help it. I just wait for bad news. So far so good...have another one coming up in the next month or so.

I'll be interested to see how you like the new contacts...I stopped wearing them when I had to get the toric (?sp) ones for astigmatism..they were quite uncomfortable (this was in the 90's, i'm sure they've come a long way since then).

Before I was dx I went to the eye doctor for my usual checkup. When she dilated my eyes she saw microscoptic lines. She asked if I was taking any medications. I said, No. She sent me to a specialist who injected the dye and took pictures of the back of the eye. He knew immediately I probably had diabetes and sent me for a full work up.

Eye exams can be very very stressful. I've been near breakdowns more than once. I must be getting close to 100 lifetime visits. They are still stressfull.

That's terrific! I had my first exam last Friday and was scared too....everything was perfect. High Five!

It is nice to know I am normal-in respect to being nervous at the eye doctor-I totally get why we get scared whereas in the past it was just routine. It is nice to know I am not alone afterall! Sometimes D. makes you feel like you are the only one out there...I know you know.;)
