I don't know how to ask this other than straight up: Can anyone recommend an honest internet source for Lantus?

Signed;

Broke in MN

Yeah, I know they have a program, but I don't fit their profile.

MN?

Closest I can figure those initials would be Manitoba. But Manitoba is MB.

Are you in Canada?

MN = Minnesota.

Canadians would be pressed to answer this. We don't buy meds mail order.

I think he means Minnesota. People sometime like to figure out ways of getting drugs from Canada because they are so expensive in the US. I am sure you have heard about it.

I was thinking that, but assumed he made a typo.

You can also buy insulin over the counter without a prescription.

Seriously?

I've seen garbage online pharmacies selling insulin/etc online, using Canadian meds as their mask (but it really ships from some sketchy pirate island in the Caribbean).

As far as where to buy Canadian drugs, try Canada. :-P

In most states regular insulin and NPH are available without a prescription.

The OP was looking for a place to purchase Lantus, which requires a prescription both in the states AND in Canada.

There are a few legitimate Canadian Pharmacies that are online; the thing to look for is the CIPA certification. This website describes how to tell if a pharmacy is CIPA certified or not: CIPA - Your source for safe and affordable medicine (http://www.ciparx.ca/)

My sister & her husband don't have prescription coverage through his insurance. My brother-in-law takes one medication on a regular basis but otherwise it's just as-needed things like antibiotics, eye drops, etc. Things you may need once a year. My sister searched online and ordered the pills through a "Canadian" pharmacy and they ended up getting a package from India! She says that the pills do work, but I certainly wouldn't want to order insulin that way.

Yah. That actually raises a really good point. Lantus/insulin is light/heat sensitive, and you have no way of knowing what it's storage conditions were like prior to shipping. It could be completely useless by the time you get it. And Lantus is awfully expensive.

Slash I didn't know you could *legitimately* buy Canadian meds over the internet. The more you know.

At least in BC Lantus and Novarapid are over the counter items.

I guess one could try just ringing a pharmacy..say the Walmart one.. or just a smaller privately owned one and ask to get some sent.. one wonders what happens if they get stuck at the border or something though...

Also, I have bought stuff (but not insulin) from Diabetesexpress dot ca.. they seemed above board.

I have ordered insulin from Canada in the past. I'd be leery of shipping Lantus as it's SO heat sensitive and shipping from Canada takes longer, but I used to get Novolog without any problems. It's WAY cheaper from Canada than paying for it here without insurance... almost half price.
