A couple of years ago, I had cataract surgery. When it was all said and done I ended up with mono vision. One eye allows me to read or see up very close and the other eye allows me to see at a distance. This was done by mistake, but I don't have a problem with it. I actually don't have to use glasses. Has this happen to anyone else out there and if so do you have a problem with it?

What? This sounds messed up. How did they mess this up so badly and is there any way to fix it?

My contact lenses are that way. I have one eye for reading and the other for distance vision like driving. It took me a while to asjust but I truly love not having to pick up a pair of glasses when I want to change tasks.

Very nice to hear actually! Before I started wearing glasses all the time, I had my contacts that way and loved it. My eye doc told me that if I wanted my eyes fixed, he suggested doing it that way on purpose!

My first pair of contacts were like that and not too bad once I got used to them. The ones I wear now are awesome though. They are actual bifocals. They have 6 invisible zones in each one that magnifies for reading. But you never see those with distance vision. It's amazing how these things work. Next year I'm having the operation. Can't wait for that too!

Me too -- contacts for that -- but recently I catch myself closing my farsighted eye to read, all the time. I am going to switch over to bifocal glasses, I think.
