Hiya Folks,

Well, about 2 weeks ago I went to the opt. because I had got my levels down. I got new contacts. Acuview bifocals. At first they were great but the last few days I've noticed my distance vision sucks while wearing them. I can still see everything near great. If I take them out I can see perfect distance but in and even 10 feet away is a blur. Now, before all that my levels were ridiculously high as you can tell by my A1C. But all the time I could see things close just fine so I quit wearing my old contacts. Well, when the levels came back down I could not see up close again. The Opt. said this is normal so I got my new scrip and all was good. Now I wonder if my eyes changed a little bit more because of the levels staying down. I'm glad I didn't order a 6 month supply yet. Sound familiar to anyone?

What are your levels now and for how long have you got them down?

I found that for about 2 months after DX while I was progressively improving levels that my sight was changing. I have gone from wearing glasses all the time to only needing them for distance, last check up in March I was told I have "perfect short sight", the optho described it as 20/20 for close work.

Oh, yes. It is literally the amount of sugar within your lens, affecting your vision. high = nearsighted, low = far-sighted.

Very weird effect -- I wore reading glasses for, like, 3 days.

One more reason to keep your control consistent. SIGH.
