So one year ago tomorrow (May 13th) was when I was diagnosed officially. I can't believe it's been a year already! I remember the day like it was yesterday. It's been a roller coaster of a year especially with my first year of college and moving away from home.
I think it's also interesting because tomorrow will also be my last day of my freshman year of college!
I wonder how I should celebrate!
Congratulations on finishing your first year. Hopefully the next few will be easier. I was diagnosed a little over two years ago (my junior year) and it took me about 6 months or so to get into a good routine, since student life is so ironically unscheduled.
I've never thought of celebrating my D-Day (yeah I like the pun, and I was so close to it being Dec 7th too...that would have been really fitting), but if I had to choose, I'd probably go for finding the biggest hill in my neighborhood (currently in Pittsburgh so that's simple enough) and running it - a little kick in the behind to remind me that no matter how much running that hill hurts, I can still do it because I'm managing my sugars. Of course...I am a bit of a masochist I guess...to each his own.

14 years and every moment of that day is still present in my mind.
I'm sure it's tough adjusting thru freshman year in college, but there's really only one way of celebrating. Drugs and Booze.

A_Darling, While I also love MTBing (I read your profile), I have to disagree, drugs and Booze isn't the only way to celebrate :( . Especially since the focus is on maintaining good health.
Before you think I am a old fuddy duddy, may I point out I am still very much in college myself.
Techgirl,
I do think you should celebrate, I can find LOTS of reasons and ways to party...I am sure you will come up with something good.

Happy 1 year Diabetes Anniversary, Melissa!
It's amazing how fast the time goes by.
Hmmm.............celebrate by having a cocktail or a piece of cake..........or both! LOL

Lots of ways to celebrate.
What do you like to do?
If it was me I might go for a hike or paddle a river because that's what makes me grin.
Even better with friends.
