Just realizing that i can test and shoot in public without any one noticing...isn't it nice to get over it all?

Yes Lori it sure is liberating! I did a finger prick test while pushing the shopping trolley in the supermarket last week - had my hand half inside my shopping bag and no one noticed - and it felt great to not draw unwanted attention :)

Good for you Lori.

I don't have to shoot in public but it took me a little while to test in public. Now I'll test anywhere :D

Been a LONG time since I got over the test and inject in public thing. Then I got a pump and it's even less distracting to those around me.

I now get people (usually relatives) who see me test and want me to test them! I carry extra lancets just so I can.

Long before I was diabetic, I saw a young man inject in a restaurant. I thought it was so cool!

Seriously ... it was like a statement. I admired him for not being squeamish of others' reactions or embarrassed. More power to him and others like him. It's part of your life, why not?

Oh Lori - what a great day for you! I remeber that the first time I injected in a restaurant my hands were actually shaking. But it was soon clear that the customers were busy with their conversations and no one even noticed. Since then, the servers at restaurants I frequent even ask if I want them to wait for a few minutes after my injections to put my order in. They've really become part of my team!

Yay for you!

you all are the BEST..but in no way shape or form do i not mean to include that i did test and load inside my handbag and shot while others less around...and I must not tell a lie ...twas also b/c my feet were in big high heels and the bathroom was miles away..but yes...i walked on the air that "i could do this" last night..and am a bit amazed at how unobservant others are to the plights with which we struggle..holy egocentricism..

still a very happy girl overall..thanks to the knowledge and comfort i have gained here..sorry to sound cavalier earlier..

If I am in a food court, I have no shyness about doing my bolus since I would most likely have my gear on me, since in a mall...

If we drive somewhere, like to a Subway, or something, I just bolus in the car, cuz I know for a fact, I will eat what I bolus for. There is NEVER any doubt that I will eat everything I get. :D

I better get to bed... I talk alot.

Zzzzz....
