558 mg/dL!

When I saw that, I knew something wasn't right. So I washed my hands thoroughly, dried them, and tested again. 168 mg/dL. Okay, let's just make one more check to be sure, with another meter. 161 mg/dL.

I don't know what I got on my fingers, I'm scratching my head on that one. This is one case especially where I wish I could delete the reading from the meter memory as it was obviously a false or contaminated reading. Now I've got it sitting in there screwing with my meter averages for the next 90 days. Oh well.

I did a Boo-Boo once...LoL...I didn't think certain food had that many Carbs. So I didn't take that much Insulin...Then when I did a reading..it was 235!....Ooops!

I think we all make that mistake, it's all too easy to do especially while eating out. The advice is to always wash your hands before taking a reading but I am sure that soap will affect your readings just as much as sugary substances. So many variables when it comes to testing it's a wonder that meters even get a reasonable result.

A childhood friend of mine, was admitted to the hospital with a reading of 1360 (75.6 mmol).

He was out of it for two weeks, before they could "contact" him. Survived it =)

When I was thrown in the hospital AKA DX'd I was 432 (24 mmol) Doc told me that I had diabetes and that I was going to the hospital right now. I asked her if she was sure and that maybe she should test again, as I just ate a cany while waiting in the waiting room. She continued to tell me that she could eat a whole bag of suggar and that her BGs would not read that high.

The scary thing about that was I was running high like that for months before I finally said time to get checked out.

Was good to start takign insulin and star feelign "normal" again and put my weight back on.
