Iam take insulin shots since last 3 years... any idea if I can do strength exercies/cardio vascular exercises..
Also suggest if physical exercise OK when BG is more, normally I don't check BG before & after exercise..

You can do any type of execise you want to. Diabetes should not limit you to anything. Many here do a lot of exercise, I prefer to ride my bike miles and miles for my workout. Strength or cardio can be done. I would not exercise if my BS is over 250, me personally I would like it below 200. I try to stay between 80 and 150 while exercising.

You are fairly young, your joints are in good in shape ... I would say running, or cycling if you prefer something easier on the joints.

I love my stationary recumbent bike (really semi-recumbent) --just telling my husband, it is so nice not to have joint pain from the jolt of running! I am doing an interval program which is varied and fun. Keeps it definitely not-boring, and gives cardio fitness a bit faster than straight-paced aerobics.

Currently I do 3 days of 20 minutes aerobics, 1 day of 1 hour aerobics, 2 days of 30 min of planned intervals, and 1 day complete rest. My intervals are: 1 min high-intensity, followed by two recovery minutes, five times. Of course, 10 min warmup and cool down are built into these days. My more intense day (just begun this week!) is 30 sec high, 90 sec low intensity, eight times. And it is HIGHER intensity than my slower day's -- it is very invigorating!

Anyone interested should google Interval training, or HIIT (high intensity interval training) for more info. Oh and a study in January showed sprints or intervals are good for reducing insulin resistance.

Before starting an interval program, you should have at least 4 weeks' of good aerobic base, first.

And as with any more strenuous exercise, if you have a heart condition or are unsure, ask your MD before starting.

People on insulin can participate in physical activity. In fact, many of us benefit from regular exercise.

Not sure what you mean by your last statement though. What do you mean "when BG is more", also, I would not suggest any type of exercise without knowing what your blood sugar is. Always test before and after exercise. How else do you know how physical activity affects you?

With your experience & observervations here I understand:
Physical is better be avoided if BS is more than 250.
Pedalling/Cycling is one good way to of exercising
I have also seen a suggestion to avoid ‘white foods’ like rice, pasta etc.,

Just wonder if you test BS levels ‘ before & after’ everytime you exercise or, being diabetic exercising is just part of discipline.

Wow Linda!! That's once heck of an exercise program! I wish I had your enthusiasm! I do a moderate to brisk 40 min walk every morning and sometimes I will do same walk in the evening with my wife if she isn't too busy with Mom's duties..

EDIT: Actually I do take a day's off on Saturday..:(

Jacque, it is intense (not painful!), but efficient, and I TRULY need efficient with 3 kids 8 and younger to ride herd on! (and at my age, too!).

Endo had told me to strive for 210 min of aerobic exercise per week. It just sounded so plodding and unappealing to me! Glad I stumbled onto this instead.
