I don't really understand it either. but I know I had lows a couple years before the diabetes diagnosis. hopefully someone will elaborate.

but you have to have highs to have diabetes

A diabetic can be having lows for a couple of reasons:

#1 medication or insulin is causing their blood sugar to go lower than intended. (obviously this is only diagnosed diabetics)

#2 reactive hypoglycemia - blood sugar spikes too high & the pancreas panics & over-reacts, dumping too much insulin, causing the person to go low.

So, it is possible for lows to be caused by diabetes, but either way you should test your blood sugar frequently to find out what's going on. Decrease the amount of carbs you eat can also help balance out your blood sugar levels, no matter if it's diabetes or just regular hypoglycemia. Finally...if you have any question about this, see your doctor!

i have seen my doctor & she just told me to eat more. i have been also checking my blood sugar & the highest that i have seen so far is 142. type 2 diabetes run in my family & that is why i was asking about hypo because my hypos have gotten worse in just this last year & i didnt know if that could be a sign that i could be turning into diabetes.
