can someone tell me the diffrents between fasting hypo & reactive & if the treatment for both is the same. thank you:)

if i am understanding the terminology..

fasting hypo is when you do not eat and your bg drops low...your liver does not kick into to compensate for your regular pancreas spurts of insulin
reactive hypo is when you ate quite a number of carbs earlier and your pancreas kicks in but later and too much causing a low bloodsugar again despite the indulgences

my personal belief is that all hypos should be treated similarly, in that a little carb (ie 1/4 cup oj) can go a along way, however, if you were fasting earlier, once corrected and no longer severely symptomatic, you should eat a regular meal to prevent another hypo..

however, i will happily stand corrected on any of this..:)
