This seems like a very minor thing, but it's odd so I wondered if any of you have this experience. Lately I have been having very regular flutters (twitches) in my right eyelid. Only the right one. It happens multiple times a day. Any diabetes-related clue?

Possibly stress related. Are you more stressed than usual?
Other possibilities include fatigue and caffeine.
More here: Medline Plus: Eyelid twitch (link) (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000756.htm)
So possible that this is not caused by Diabetes, but the underlying cause may also work against diabetes. Google up some stress management techniques!
I HATE those.
Eventually they just go away, if you can stand to ignore them. Or even if you can't ...

We do tend to get keratoconjunctivitis sicca aka Dry Eye Syndrome (http://www.dlife.com/dLife/do/ShowContent/inspiration_expert_advice/expert_columns/chous_sept2006.html) very easily. How have your sugars been?

I had the same issue not long ago with my left eye twitching...it drove me nuts. It did go away though. I work at a computer all week long, and found that (for me anyway) on the weekends my eyes don't twitch...so it must be eye stress related to computer use.

Maybe I am spending too much time staring at my computer learning about my diabetes! (I also teach online and it's my main way of communicating with friends and family in the U.S. so I am online a lot!)
Thanks, Keith. Stress was my first guess, though I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a diabetes-related cause. Yes, I have been very stressed since February when I first started on insulin and was having trouble managing my diabetes (much better now!). I actually teach stress management and have lots of free time so I have been managing my stress well at least for the last few weeks when I got how bad it was! (Just because you know what to do doesn't mean you remember to do it!

Your welcome! Since stress makes diabetes worse it's important for all of us to learn about, and p-r-a-c-t-i-c-e stress management :D Perhaps, since you have all the skills and spare time you could teach us all a thing or two - maybe start a thread on stress management!

I've had this since I was about 15 - well before I had D so I know for me, it's unrelated. Annoying, but almost certainly unrelated :)

I actually did that on another board I'm on. (I've noticed that nobody mentions other boards, it's almost like it would be being unfaithful!) I think that's a great idea and will go ahead and do that!

My eye doctor told me twitching is reflex from stress. Meditate or take time for relaxing and breathing. I will bet it disappears. It is an involuntary reaction to the stress we feel.

You will need to have this checked out by a doctor as it is affecting you enough that you have sought help from this site. I had a spasm of my left eyelid and I resolved it by getting more sleep, it really was that simple. Of course, I was able to recognise what I had been doing over the few weeks prior so the solution was self-evident.

yes stress...and it's contagious...after the last thread on this i caught it again...lasted for three weeks...thought it was coinciding with a med change for heart rate, but lokking up the mechanism of the med, i would think the opposite would happen...
