Does anyone know anything abut the Injex 30 needle free injection system

Does anyone know anything about the Injex 30 Needle Free Injection System for injecting insulin without a syringe? I'm interested in buying one but I need to know if the ampules can be reused. If so, it might be worth looking at. If not, I don't think I can afford it.

At the bottom of pg 3 and top of pg 4 of the manual, which you can download from the injex.com website, single-use of ampules is stressed.

Each Ampule is to be used only once and then discarded.
C A U T I O N : Repeated use of the Ampule will
cause wet shots or Ampule failure and could result in
injury to the user.

By "wet shots", I assume they mean not all insulin gets under the skin. But I suspect that the manufactureres make most of their money out of the consumables. And you may be able to get away with multiple uses. But you would have to try it out for yourself ...

When I was younger, my parents actually were willing to purchase me a needle-free injector. They went as far ordering it so I could evaluate it...I didn't like it: It was big, bulky and the practice saline always leaked out of me...So we sent it back, to the tune of a $50 re-stocking fee.

Still, it was worth it. Injex probably has a similar program if you really want to test it out, LG.

The people I've talked with about it reported that they are no less painful than a needle injection. It's useful for people who can't stand the concept of a needle going into the skin.

There are different attachments for "different kinds of skin" thicknesses. The pressure of the jet burst of insulin must be increased until such that no insulin leakage occurs.

Generally, they are less reliable and less likey to be carried around easily (e.g., eating out).

Guess it's best that I didn't get the thing. I was thinking that maybe I could use it to inject in more places, like under my tongue, behind the knee, on the cheek, etc. I guess I can use the syringes for injections between the fingers.

The device won't fit easily unless you have a large purse. If you're male, carrying one around involves a lot more than a simple pen needle and insulin pen, or syringe.

Plus, it's noisy.
