Hi all,
I have been having problems for the past month or so. I have been really tired, dizzy, lightheaded. When I feel this way, if I eat something, I feel better pretty quickly. After an hour or so, I go back to feeling this way again, eat and I feel better. This just started.

Just went yesterday and had blood tests. My doctor is concerned that my blood sugar (glucose) is too low. He told me to always have a candy bar with me just in case.

Also, I have been urinating a lot lately. For those that know me, that is very not like me. I could go all day without going to the bathroom. I never used to wake up at night to go but now sometimes I do once or twice.

What could be going on? I am concerned that something is wrong but I don't know what. Sometimes I get so tired that I want to go to sleep "right now" no matter where I am at.

Any help, experiences or comments are welcomed.

Thanks,
Scott

What blood tests did you get and when do you get the results? That's pretty much what you should be looking at right now. You could also get yourself a BG tester or find a friend with one and test your BG, to get a "snapshot" picture of if your BG is up and down.

Hang in there. Things will become clearer. Chase those tests up and demand full disclosure of everything about your test results. If you get a diagnosis or feel you should but you don't, prepare yourself to spend a while getting on your feet with this, and focus on educating yourself about how to get yourself fit and healthy again, and stay that way, whether medication is required or not. Good luck.

Thanks for the quick response! These were the tests that my doctor ordered;

Compa
HA1C
Fasting Glucose
CBC
TSH
HIV

Make sense? I don't understand what those are though.

Well, it's quite a spectrum of tests. Apart from other issues being looked at, you've got A1c and Fasting Glucose which should hopefully give indications as to diabetic status or lack of. HbA1c in particular can be useful because it is a little like an "average" of your BG levels over the last 3 months. Small discrepancies may not be picked up, but if much has been going on you'll probably see it in your A1c. TSH is looking at your thyroid, which I understand can be an issue and cause BG problems both alongside, and aside from diabetes.

Hopefully you'll find out something from these tests. If you don't feel things are progressing adequately one way or the other you'll find knowledgeable people here to suggest approaches and other tests to try and get to the bottom of things, diabetes wise. Hang in there.
