View Full Version : Compulsive tester, not so much in the AM

I'm type 1 and I do test constantly throughout the day after my first meal of the day but I just don't really test that much in the morning unless I wake up feeling awful.

I guess one of the reasons I'm so complacent about it is the fact that I sleep in 2-3 hour increments and my sleeping schedule is never the same so I can't really predict the timing of my dawn phenomenon. I also wake up a few times in the morning and roll back over and sleep for sometimes 2 more hours so I don't know when I should test for an accurate morning BGL.

Any advice out there? My last A1C was great in my opinion but if anybody out there thinks it could be improved by morning testing, I'm open for criticism and suggestions!

DOH! I should have put this in the testing subforum...

What comes to my mind with your question, is compared to no test at all, simply testing when you wake, whether earlier or 2 hours later, is going to be much better than nothing, and give you some better indications about what's going on than you have now.

About dawn phenomenon, do you have it? If you do, does it matter? Without testing, you can't know - but also, without big problems, it doesn't sound likely it is automatically a factor. Be good to find out. As I said, just testing when you got up and not worrying too much about the time, is going to start providing you with data.

A good A1c indeed! Every right to be happy with your control, I reckon.
