Just curious...what is the lowest BS reading you guys have had? The lowest I've heard of was 14, my grandmother. My lowest was 24.

The lowest I have on my meter is 29 mg/dL.

Some years ago, I had a couple of hypos where I woke up with medics in attendance. I keep better track of things now and hope to never have such episodes again.

I had a "lo" reading one time. After I treated, 15 minutes later I was at 51. treated again and came back to 119 about 1/2 an hour later. (and this was about a month or two after diagnosis and BEFORE I started insulin!)

I was soo close to either passing out or throwing up at the time... Hubby is the one who thought to check my blood sugar. Didn't occur to me.

Edited to add: I now check my blood sugar when I am the least bit dizzy or nauseous. Lesson learned!

Mine was 32 and I didn't have any symptoms of hypoglycemia. Scary.

My lowest known was 23 and that was after some treatment. I for sure don't want to go there again.

The lowest I've tested myself was 18. One time when I passed out at work I came to as the paramedics were wheeling me into the ER. One of them said, "She's up to 25". If I was UP to 25 after treatment, I wonder what I was before? I was still too out of it to ask.

what happens to you guys when you get that low?

i've not gone lower than 2.5 mmol/l, but very recently i've been experiencing hypo unawareness. the only indication of the 2.5 reading (last week) was some tingling on my tongue.

anyway, curious about what you feel like when you are at 25 or lower...?

I'd feel perfectly fine until I passed out. I've tested myself in the low 20s many, many times and treated it and continued doing whatever I had been doing before. I have no idea what the magic number is that I have to reach before passing out because I'm obviously unconscious by then!

I have not passed out or had as many severe lows since I started pumping. All of my horrible experiences were on injections.

The lowest I've tested in 1.9 mmol/l or 34 mg/dl. I've never been curious how low I've been, or I've been incapacitated. I've been more interested in saving my *** first. I'll bet I've been about as low as you can go and still live; whatever that is, 10 mg/dl?

what happens to you guys when you get that low?

911'd nine times. Made it to ER 3 or 4. other times I just pop some tabs and continue life as normal, cept for the driving thing. I'll wait till I'm up before I drive. Note: I believe i'm past these issues. Pumping has helped so much.

Be aware of your signs and learn to take action. Don't sluff them off as trivial. Sometimes you feel very normal with very scary sugars.

Thing's I feel include tiredness, hunger, confusion, repetetiveness -- like I'm stuck in an endless loop, and slurred speach.

My lowest was 34 mg/dl, and it was just a couple months after I had been diagnosed and was walking around on a university campus all day (was an "experience engineering" thing at NCSU where I recently graduated). I told my doctors about it but we DEFINITELY didn't scale back my insulin usage enough. I was working my way through the lunch line and couldn't get my hands to work properly (like I kept fumbling when I was grabbing for food to put on my tray and dropped a paper drink cup on the floor). By the time I finally got through the register and tested I was pretty terrified. I felt like I was just a few minutes away from collapsing and ate that meal like I hadn't seen food in a week! Broke out in an all-over sweat and didn't stop convulsing for a significant amount of time.

I've had more problems with highest highs than lowest lows since diagnosis though. I almost always catch them before they drop under 55 mg/dl or so now. Pumping has been SO very helpful for this.

Yes! Watch out for that. Talking the big ones, I find it especially if a big low at night (doesn't happen these days) or if sitting for a while, I can feel fine and then on moving a limb everything is tingly and I'm in trouble.

I really don't remember what my lowest reading has been. Thing is, once it gets down to a really bad hypo, last thing I have energy for is using my tester... as someone holding onto life, what I need is sugar and a place to sit/lie down.

Recorded 2.4 recently when I was cycling home from work. Didn't really feel hypo; just had some instinctive sense that I might be. So I stopped and checked. Trouble was I'd been trying to beat a storm home. Nowhere to sit or collapse. I'd been cycling up a busy road. Propped my bike under a bush - that offered scant protection! - and watched the storm approaching. It was a hail storm. Suddenly I was standing in two inches of hail feeling sad and pathetic and cold and friendless. Then I got over it, got back on the bike and pedalled wetly home.

The lowest low I've had is about 1.4mmol, but my blood sugar level meter only reads to 1.4mmol and above. When I had the hypo, I wasn't able to speak much but madly seemed focussed on doing a blood test at the time. I stayed at 1.4mmol -2.5 for the next hour while eating jellybeans and muesli bars about 6 servings. I had the hypo because My novorapid insulin ratio had halved in a matter of 2 hours without warning while I had novorapid and lunch.

I had a bad hypo last week at the best place- the endocrinologists. I walked into my endocrinologist last week when I was 6.4 an hour earlier. I was talking to her fluently and suddenly didn't feel like talking and measured my blood sugar and it was 1.5. It wasn't near novorapid as the last was 5 hours earlier and just a wierd pregnancy drop I get sometimes. She said I looked fine when I walked in and suddenly my my blood sugar level just dropped. I have since stopped taking morning Levemir on her instructions which has helped a little bit.:)

I've tested twice at 26 over the course of 6 years. My tongue was numb, I had the shakes, and couldn't think straight. It wiped me out for the entire day!

My lowest was 23, just last month. My fasting number that morning was 102.

I skipped breakfast, knowing I would be having a great lunch as it was my sister's wedding day. On the way to the ceremony, I stopped to get gas and noticed my lips were feeling numb/tingly (no other signs). Tested at the gas station and was  !. Having glucose tabs in the car, I popped a few and bought a regular coke. A friend was with me so he drove.

It's very frightening to know you can get that low and not be aware.

btw...I don't remember coca cola classic tasting THAT sweet!! lol!!

My lowest happened many, many moons ago. I was 19 and living at home. The last thing I remember before I woke up in the ambulance was eating a PBJ sandwich.

I had a normal day and was getting ready to go to a friend's house, so had a late lunch. PBJ sandwich, glass of milk, and some fruit. Back then (1985) there was just NPH so was on that. Apparently when I got to my friend's place I kept trying to sprint through the plate glass window overlooking the lake. In fact, my first attempt I hit the glass and crashed to the floor, backed up and tried again before my friends grabbed me trying to figure out WTF was wrong with me. Finally, one of them said to call my mom, who told them to call 911. Ambulance came a short time later and started a glucose drip (I was convulsing at this point). Approx 10 mins after the drip started, they drew blood and did a qwik test before loading me into the ambulance....and it was 17. The paramedic said it must be a mistake, but the lab result turned out the same-17.

Luckily I managed to get through to the kitchen and treat myself.

I've had too many of these to recall but the lowest was 17 when I awoke to paramedics with a glucose bag in my arm, thanks to a friend who called 911 at the time. I hate to think what would have happened if I had been alone. The scary thing was, I had previously treated a high following my pump's insulin recommendation only to collapse 2 hours later. Lesson learned: your insulin vs. glucose needs vary with a variety of factors, including weather conditions, physical activity, diet and more. Things always change with this cursed condition.

I have had IDDM for around 38 years so...have had many lows. The one that stands out the most was when I just suddenly dropped and could not even talk...I remember looking at my dog and not knowing what his name was! My sister was there and disconnected my pump and called the endo. I still remember having a hard time operating the BG meter...1st BG (about 1/2 hr in) was around 40mg/dl and took some time to get it up. Scarred me to death!!

Actually got a new pump for that one! Still not certain what caused it.

Fell on the floor and none of my legs or arms worked or did what I told them to do. A very odd rare feeling to say the least. Also felt as though I couldn't think straight, like I had a few drinks.

Wife put honey on my gums and in my mouth.

Didn't know what a low was til I started insulin.

So far, 3.2 mmol/l.

Not sure how that converts.

I am usually a bit conservative when I bolus, so haven't really had any major problems with lows yet.

Here is a nice tool so 3.2 mmol/l works out to 57.6 mg/dL

well under 1.0 just reads low i think on most blood checkers.i was in a toughman competition in 2003 and after riding my motorcycle across the states and training,i was pretty spent.i fought for 3 five minute rounds total and stayed standing, with my sugar hovering around 1 or 2.i was kinda in a dream state but fought pretty good nonetheless.after the fight i started drinking orange juice but because of getting hit many times in the head i couldnt keep it down.the medical physician checked my sugar after the fight and it said low which means it was low below 1.0.still fighting diabetes but im winning, and feel great;)

My lowest readings were 42 & 41 - both of them since I started taking Prandin. Still trying to get that adjusted so it works for me.

Terrible feeling! But, thank God, I knew it - I don't have the hypo unawareness problem.

hit a lowest low of 52 this afternoon, my hands were shaking like nuts, couldnt even work for a while there. i usually get highs and hardly ever lows, so its not as bad as others
