I had posted yesterday about my daughters flucuating blood sugars. She sometimes dips within an hour of eating and then get a high reading 2 hours after eating. Yesterday and today she had a pretty high carb lunch (sandwhich & chips). Yesterday she was at 170 two hours after eating. Today she was 143 before lunch, 83 1 hour after lunch and 141 two hours after lunch. Her average morning fasting is 115. She has been loosing weight for six months now for no known reason (has had tests run in GI, blood work, and does not have an eating disorder..she eat a lot!). She has increased fatigue and slight increase in urine output. She doesn't have a doctors appointment with endocrine for 10 more days. Is this to long to wait? Has anyone else ever seen a dip in blood sugar after eating?

Thanks!

Jill

hi it could be diabetes but also hypoglycemia 83 isnt really low enough to be hypoglycemia but the pattern sounds about right. i have lows, most of the time it comes if i wait to long to eat but i have had lows a couple of times after i ate & i am not a diabetic. until you make it to the doctors i would try a low carb no sugar & no caffine deit to see if it helps. let me know how it goes. best wishes!!

Some research indicates that Type 1 manifests itself slowly, but then hits a "tipping point" where blood glucose can get really high really fast.

Keep a close eye on things, just to be safe.
