Hi everyone!!
I wanted to ask you a question..
I been eating these bars that have 23g of carbs and 5 grams of fiber i only put two units of Humolog! it was working fine... but lately it been going high up I dont know if its the fiber thats not doing anything or because I am only 8 days away from my periods..... also I had musculin mix salad with green peppers and other green vegies plus grilled chicken breast i only put two units and my sugar was high again by 2 mg than usual, before it never does that... again could this be because I am only 8 days away from my periods??? do you girls experience that??
also for cravings... i crave chocolat soooo much but when i crave it i want to take like a whole bag of it not just a little, does anyone have a way of keeping your hands off of it??
thank you in advance!!

What works for me is to picture the chocolate crawling with spiders or beetles. The aversion turns off the craving.

God yes! For about a week before my period's due my BS is always spiking for no apparent reason. Things I eat with no problem normally tend to throw my blood sugar all over the place! Once my period's kicked in- it's the other way around- constant lows! Some days I get three hypos a day. I try to adjust my Novorapid accordingly but my hormones tend to override any attempts...
I'm quite used to it now...and know that for at least two weeks of the month my BS is misbehaving no matter what I do...! :)

I always get High BS when I start my period and it lasts through the week. It's a hormonal thing. And a few days before, I usually get an appetite boost, an increase in weight and I clean clean clean... go figure!!!:D

I become quite insulin resistant before my period, and in some cases need almost twice as much insulin as usual. The day I get my period.... WHAM! Insulin sensitive once again.
And while I am pre-menstrually insulin resistant I also get horrific cravings for chocolate which I can't imagine not indulging (do people here really limit their diets so strictly?). So I'll have chocolate as my lunch, for example, rather than in addition to it, and get out my bag of dark chocolates with almond, dark chocolate truffles, double dipped chocolate covered peanuts and caramel chocolates. What fills me up amounts to only around 70-80g carb, but there's so much fat, it's over 1000 calories, and doesn't spike me at all. In fact, I need an extended bolus for it. Thank God I'm not premenstrual all the time, or I would be morbidly obese and then some. But for those times, a feast of chocolate re-e-a-ally hits the spot.

I also become fairly insulin resistant before my period... it usually starts about a week before, and lasts through the first few days. My basals don't seem to change (at least, I don't notice a significant change in fastings, or between meals when I don't eat for a while), but my I:C ratios do.
I am nearing menopause so tough to say WHAT is going on when ... but I just LOVE the term, "monstrual."
Saving it for my girls ... :D

In the interest of equal opportunities, can I play too?
I become insulin resistant when my wife has one. It's the stress of always being wrong I tell you.... You think you have it bad? Try being on the other end of it and working out your insulin ratio. It aint fun!!!!
I'm running now, and hiding. Any woman that is in the 3/4 of the time that you are all reasonable, wonderful creatures due to the hormones being kind will find the above statement funny. The others will be too busy either plotting my death or crying over a story they heard last week that they'll never catch me.
