Last weekend i had to go from Central Virginia to Northern New York for a funeral. Since we didn't have the money, we had to drive there (25 hours of driving in 3 days) ever since we got back my blood sugars have been in the 250s. so last night i decided to up my lantus from 30 to 32. I wake up and my BG is 46 :( i ate the exact same amount that i normally do but now im just all over the place.
I don't want to see my doctor because, well, i just don't like her bossy "do this or else" personality. do you think all the fatty fast food and inactivity has temporarily messed with my metabolism? I don't feel sick or anything but i just can't seem to get my BGs under control.
help?

hmmm... i don't see an edit button so ill just double post
Now my blood sugar seems to be in the 40-50 range today, i didn't think 2 units of lantus could make so much difference. oh well, i guess i learned my lesson about road trips

A change in diet and your exercise level will always cause changes in your blood sugars. Fast food, or any restaraunt food has a lot more carbs than what you are probably eating at home.

Are you using the same insulin you took with you?

I find that long periods spent inactively sitting in a vehicle will increase my Bg's. Now I use a pump I turn my basals up about 25-30% to compensate for this. It can take a day or two to get back to normal.
When I was on MDI, 2 or 3 units of Lantus could make a surprising difference between high and low.

on saturday me and my family went to dallas for the Jonas Brothers concert and so we rode 12 hours there and 13 hours back, took our time coming back. we left at 5am Saturday, Concert was at 8pm and we got back at 3pm Sunday. so 25 hours driving, hardly any sleep, and my BG was all over also i think the only time i got a good reading was right before the concert i guess when my adrenaline was higher i got a 112, but after that all day sunday i was in 200s. No fun.
oh and yes I would say the food on the trip affects the highs even days after. I know we had to get fast food so i never gave the right insulin dose pry. and ur bodies pry not use to the fatty foods so its readjusting back to normal..... slowly
Also still been getting high 100s and low 200s but finally yesterday got all low 100s except morning was 288 because i ate spaghetti o's .... oops:o
