1000mg vs. 500mg x's 2

Hey Everyone,

I'm new here and I have a question. I recently changed dr's due to a move and went to him to get all of my meds re-up'd. He changed my Met from 500mg 2x's a day to 1000mg one time a day. He said it would be easier to remember to take it. If I recall, my original diagnosing dr said it was better to take 500mg twice a day.

Anyone have any info on this?

I would guess taking Metformin twice daily as I do would better help to keep BS more consistent. With better control of it spiking too high.

I take my met twice a day, but many here use metforminER which is an extended release version, It is also supposed to be easier on the stomach.

Have you been having problems remembering to take it twice a day? If so, I see his point, but if not, why fix what isn't broken?
