I wentfor my very first endo appointment on Wed. and I have to say that neither hubby nor I were very impressed. I did not agree with his ideas or methods at all (too much to say, not enough space). So, the search continues.........

Hey, Cin,

Sorry to hear that your appt. wasn't all you had hoped for. I posted about my recent appointment w/ my new endo, and to be quite frank, I wasn't that impressed either. I thought he was kind of cocky, and his whole demeanor just didn't gel with me all that well, so I can understand how you feel. I am going to give this guy another chance, but if I don't think things improve on the next visit, I'm off to find someone who does meet my standards.

I am rejoicing because when I had an appt with my pump trainer , who is also my endo's new aasistant, she told me that Dr. will be going back to Boston or wherever she came from soon. I have only had 2 appts with her as we are new to the area. First appt. she didn't even read all the paperwork I had filled out, didn't like my pump, meter, or insulin. She is supposed to be my PCP and I had to call her back into the room to look at some spots on my face that I thought might be skin cancer, she didn't think so but referred me to a dermatologist-spots were pre-cancerous. Second appt. I thought I would be smart and type out all my concerns so she could read them and I wouldn't forget them. She spent the entire time copying what I wrote into my chart in her own handwriting. She doesn't believe that I might have neuropathy in my arms because I don't have it in my feet. She didn't hear anything I said unless it concerned diabetes.
I guess no one at the clinic is going to shed any tears when she leaves. She hasn't been there that long but the CDE quit recently because of her. When she started at the clinic she threw out all the training material the Cde had becuase she didn't believe in it. My pump trainer said she had never met such a bad doctor.

At least you have a choice Cin. When I needed an endo 2 years ago I only had two doctors to choose from, one of which was on some sort of extended leave so I had to go to the only one available. He's okay but I could see room for improvment - more from his support staff actually than him.

I understand completely Cin. I went throught no less than six endo's before I finally found one a like. Keep searching. You will find the right doctor!

Well, Eevee and docta,

I wrote a post about how the whole appointment went, I don't know if you saw it or not.

I guess i was just turned off by his whole attitude and manor. Like I mentioned, he was very cocky, and almost seemed inpatient w/ me. That's my impression, anyway. He did offer me a few suggestions about rotating and changing my sites more, but that's about it. I just wasn't pleased with how things went. :( My ex-endo was totally the opposite..very caring, understanding, and PATIENT. He was awesome, too bad he had to leave :(

I try to be fair and not jump to judgements about anyone, so I'll see him again in a few months and see if my impression has changed at all. I'll keep ypu all posted ;)

I am so lucky! I really like my endo, and the Univ of MN said he's the best one other than one at the U, so, these posts make me count my blessings.

I won't say that it was a totally bad experience, but it could have went so much better than it did. I guess I wasn't totally comfortable with my new endo's approach. I know that's not really that specific, but to me personality and attitude are very important. I think you could be a great doctor and be very knowledgeable, but if your attitude stinks who's going to listen to you or want to be around you? I wouldn't.

Honestly, I can't say I was impressed by how my appointment went in any way, but at the same time I think it takes time to get to know and become comfortable with a new doctor or medical professional. I'm hoping the next appointment will be better. :)

In all fairness to doctors it takes time for them to get comfortable to us as well. Personally have seen a doctor do a complete 180 from the first visit to the second and be different at the third. I try to give it at least five visits before making up my mind, but of course there are those you know in the first three minutes it won't work and others that click right away.

I like my endo! :) She is a very good doctor :thumbsup: and a very good person. :thumbsup: She is my first endo. I didn't have other doctors. My good A1C is success of my endo.

Hey Cin...

I just went through the endo-ordeal myself over the past few months. I moved from another city in NC where I had a fantastic endocrinologist to a city where my insurance covered only two endos. I went to both of them and hated both. I haggled with my company insurance carrier and asked them to include more female endos in their coverage. I have finally found a wonderful lady endo who is patient and very much in touch with the new developments in the Diabetes Mellitus world.

I see from your signature that you're in NC too, though dunno where...send me a PM and I'll let you have her contact info in case you wanna try her out.

Thanks for the replies guys. :D I'm waiting for my CDE to call me and see where we can go from here. Hopefully, he will schedule a visit with a different one so I can see if what they say differ. Thanks for the support. You guys rock. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
