My 14 year old daughter has been keeping track of her blood sugars for about a month now. Her morning fastings vary from 55-123, about half of the time being about 100 (around 115). About half of the time she is above 140 at 2 hours after eating. A few times she has gotten low about 1 hour after eating (in the 50's and unable to stand). She is 5'1", 95 lbs and active. She saw the endocrine yesterday and he felt all of this was completely normal. I myself don't feel it's ever normal for a person with or without diabetes to be unable to stand from low blood sugar an hour after eating. Does anyone have any thoughts or advise?

You may want to look into basal testing. However, at 14 she is/will be going through hormonal changes, so many different things will be coming into play.

For MDI - Basal Testing for MDI - Diabetes Daily (http://www.diabetesdaily.com/forum/articles/16675-basal-testing-multiple-daily-injections)

Pump - HOWTO profile your Basal Rates. (http://www.insulin-pumpers.org/howto/baslr.html)

After that I would look into her Carb ratios. She may need different rates throughout the day depending on meals/activity levels.

Edit - Did the Endo do an A1C? Did he test her blood? If she hasnt been properly or fully diagnosed, then not much can be done.

Hold on Mortis, there's no diabetes diagnosed or being treated here...

Shapiro, I guess my thought is the numbers sound more abnormal to me than the endo made out. The hypoglycemic reaction is a bit concerning. Does it all mean prediabetes? I really don't know. I understand that a wonky pancreas can be a precurser to type 1, too. (Though have no current sources for that). And of course there are other things that should be looked into, like thyroid function... I guess I'd probably be looking for a second opinion and hopefully an attitude to follow things up a bit, myself.
