6.1%. Definitely getting where I want it to be. I think I'd be happy with high 5's. Endo was definitely happy.

Looking into going to the Omnipod also, but she wants me to wait until my next appointment (3 months) to make sure I still want it. Which I think is reasonable. I'm loving the demo units.

So anyway, I really want to thank all you folks on this forum. Without the information here, I feel like I'd still be lost. I learned my carb counting from here and it's really paid off!

Thanks!

Hey guys...I am new here. 30+ years of IDDM and have been on pump around 15 years. I am impressed! Great HgA1c's! I struggle to get near 7.0. I have recently gone to a low CHO intake (30-40g/d) and added low dose of Metformin (I am overweight) to help w/ post-pradial spikes and allow me to decrease my insulin usage. I use a reasonable amount of insulin (.6/kg). I find the low CHO makes me less hungry and smooths out my fluctuations. I am hoping it will result in numbers in the 6.X range. Any helpful experiences? What level of CHO are you guys consuming w/ numbers like 4-6?

Thanks everyone!

I'm eating around 120-220g of carbs a day. I'm still honeymooning pretty hard, so that may change in the future. I'm also pretty active, so that probably helps too. And I'm still extremely sensitive to insulin, so I don't require much at all. Like 1unit:20-25g of carbs.

I've noticed I can really drop the insulin and raise the carbs if I workout pretty hard and then walk my dog that night. So, I guess putting in the gym time lets me continue to eat kinda like I did before DX.

Basal testing would be a great thing for you to do in your quest for tighter control.

If you can, get onto a book like Pumping Insulin by John Walsh (man, I've been suggesting this a lot lately). It really will give you a wonderful range of education, ideas and tools to really hone your control.
