I wonder too and I'm a bit worried! I relaxed a bit though, here's a more soothing article - FDA reviewing safety of Sanofi's Lantus insulin (http://www.physorg.com/news165678364.html)
Also, it is not at all unlikely that the news pro and against various drugs (Lantus among them) are actually a consequence of the rivalry between pharmaceutical companies, moreso than of authentic and truthful scientific research.

I once read this hysterically funny article called "Diary of a Mad Housewife". It was one woman's attempt to follow the dictates of various studies and news items that appeared about certain foods that were good for you, bad for you, or caused cancer in 13 week old albino ferrets. She ended up with cabinets full of things she could no longer serve her family and other cabinets full of things that had been declared beneficial but nobody wanted to eat. Frequently things migrated from one cabinet to another. I think they resorted to eating nothing but peanut butter and white asparagus for a whole week. I wish I'd saved the article. Or I could have fun rewriting it from the point of view of a diabetic.

I think there are so many drugs and foods we take/eat that "could" be dangerous. Until something is actually proven I wouldn't worry as there is little you could do, changing to say Levemir wouldn't be without its side effects or risks. I am pleased to be off Lantus but that's more for personal experiences that I can't actually prove.

Particularly the selection of which studies make it into the news, and which do NOT. I absolutely agree.
