Have you had your iron or Vitamin B12 levels checked recently? I learned when I was diagnosed with Type 2 back in April that I was also significantly vitamin B12 deficient. Started working to get BG levels under control and began B12 injection regimen. Now have more energy than I ever thought possible. Looking back I don't know how I didn't know something was WRONG before DX - I was completely exhausted all the time. Had my middle son (15 yr old) checked for both as well since he had been tired all the time as well - found he was also B12 deficient and he's doing much better now though he does the sublingual B12 pills (since he argued against the injections so vehemently). Don't know if that is what is causing your exhaustion but thought I'd mention it as a possibility. Good luck!

Well, you mention that your glucose levels have been high - that in itself is enough to cause the tiredness.
Do you eat low carb? If not, cut back on the carbs, that way at least if your insulin isn't as effective, you've eaten less carbs & will see less of an increase. Perhaps the extra stress of working is also raising your numbers. You may need to re-evaluate your insulin neds.

Congrats on the new job. So sorry you are having problems. You never told us what type of work. Is it boring? Are you getting enought sleep when you are off? Are you watching your carbs? High carb meals or large meals will make you sleepy. Are you exercising regularly? Are you checking your BG regularly? Are you working in a room that is too warm? It could be so many things. Just keep looking. You will get to the bottom of this. Good luck.

yes well done on the new job!!
Check ur blood regularly try for at least 6-8 times a day if u can, excersize everyday too and try and cut down on ur carbs as well if ur not already. Other than that i can't really think of anything else except possibly get checked out for an underactive thyroid.

You say you are getting fatigued and your glucose levels out. How out are we talking? What kind of numbers? How often are you testing?
Put simply, you are most likely undergoing more stress with your work. Stress that can cause these things, doesn't need to be "I'm freaked out" kind of stressed, it can just be life activity/pressure. This can insulin resistance in your body, meaning that your dose is less effective.
You likely need to increase your insulin usage accordingly. That may well include your basal dosages. If you do so, you need to do it based on observation and careful adjustment.

My hubby, who doesn't have diabetes, sleeps at work after the lunch hour, too. Drives him crazy. It's an eating thing for him. Too big a lunch and slam, bam...he's out. LOL it was especially bad if he ate out. so he quit that, which by the way is great on your wallet! :) Anyway, good luck working through it.
It'll probably take some trial and error.

Through my experience I've found its best to stick to heavy proteins and zero sugar.
Foods like eggs, sausage, bacon, etc. in the morning and a sandwich with turkey, pastrami, whatever at lunch, and nuts for a snack seems to do the trick for me. Protein will give you the energy you need without pushing up your blood sugar
I'm like you too, I work mornings at Seaworld (which sux!) and by the time I'm home I used to hit the bed or couch and be out for a couple hours and then feel super groggy afterwards and can't seem to get much done.
It's simple. Your high sugars are making you tired.
Your sugars are high because you are either
****1.Eating too mmny carbs with noyt enough insulin.
****2.Heat has gotten to your insulin and made it weaker.
****3.The stress of your new job is causing your liver to release sugar into your blood (fight or flight response) which is making your run high.
or
****A combination of all three.
Drink lots of water and correct (with insulin) anything over 140. Shoot for 100.
Eat more low-carb. Enjoy your new job and congratulations on finding work in this economy. You're ahead of the game already!
