View Full Version : Hooray for black soybeans!
I made my bean soup again, this time using 1 can of black soy, one can of black beans, tomatoes, green chilis, and seasonings ... the whole mess of 3 - 4 cups had 35 net carbs, so I ate a cup.
1 hr 15 min later I am at 124. A VAST improvement!
Alas, the beans are a firmer, soy-bean-y texture ... that requires some getting used to. Still ... taste great!

A few minutes in a pressure cooker takes care of the super al dente.
If you really get into them you can order a 25lb bag of dried direct from Eden for $45 plus shipping .. looks a bit steep but given what the stores get for a can of them 25lbs dried is a LOT for the $$
Cyberus -- a PRESSURE COOKER! Of course ... anyone who truly loves beans has one ... including ME!
Was thinking of ordering dried ones ... but 40 lb ... the mice might get em first. I will see if I can find smaller amounts before going for that!
Will post recipe in recipes ... very simple!

Its only 25lb not 40 :)
I looked everywhere for them and came up with nothing, its like Eden is the only one that raises black soy.

Which is odd, I know black soybeans are popular in Asia! Thanks Cyberus ... I may just order 25 lb and see how they go! It may just be worth the risk of wasting part of it.
I just looked on Amazon marketplace, and there are several vendors of black soybeans by the pound ... one has them at $2.50 per lb, but then charges $7 and some change, in shipping. Gonna look locally first!

Heh ... I must have price filtered amazon out of my search when I did it.
Yow, $2.50 a lb ... hmmm ... distributed by ... I wonder if they buy the eden farms 25lb bag and re-pkg ;)
BTW if you are worried about storage a good 5 gal bucket with a gasket still in the lid works well.
Or if you are like me and always looking for the bulk deals I highly recommend Vittles Vault containers, not as cheap as a 5gal bucket but they are airtight, screw top and critter resistant :D
Found em for $1.49 a can, at Whole Paycheck ... must be a loss leader!!! Snapped up 6 cans, so good for now!
I also looked at Asian grocery, they had many sorts of dried black beans but I could not tell which kind and the labeling indicated they were higher carb so I did not want to mess with them ...
