Tomorrow morning I will purchase a Diabetic wristband before I take the next step.

There is a HUGE HILL, very steep, nearby where I walk. I can't convince Beth or any of my neighbors to tackle that bugger with me but I think I am ready for it.

If ya don't see me around for a few days (the rightwing element of the GOP may rejoice!), I didn't fare too well.

:T

Been feeling the best I can remember in many years lately. Was fat most of my life, and now, maybe chubby? I'm anxious to lose the last bit of fat.

I have as many detractors I fear as supporters.
:D

Anywho this hill, if I can make it without undue back pain, can pack some muscle back on me. Its almost straight up....walked it once 5 yrs ago....my knuckles almost scrapped the ground.

Take your time.... Pace yourself, and most importantly BE CAREFUL!!!

You can do it, I have faith. ;)

The NYS Disability board ruled in 2003 that I was only capable of STANDING 2 hours a day and lifting 5 to 10 lbs a day repetitively (2 disintegrated discs, 2 herniated discs in lumbar)...

pffft!!!

They crazy....eating right, losing weight and being active can change your life!

Thank you both for your support, btw.

Hey do GREAT on that hill -- as a former runner, I LOVED hill work! I love challenges and cuss my way thru em ...

And I doubt your detractors are hoping for your absence -- truly. Come back safe ... and raise more h3ll! ;)

Don't wipe yourself and alienate yourself from working out, though.

Made the hill, but 3/4th the way up I felt my heartbeat racing and I started sweating profusely. Normally 3 miles I dont sweat at all. Walked it a bit slower after that.

As a pack a day smoker, and still 25lbs overweight, I'm not sure I should include this hill in my daily regimen just yet. I need to cut these cigs down in half AT LEAST, first.

I am compounding heart complications I think, at this point. My BP is normal but Im sure right now its not. Im still dripping sweat 5 minutes later.

When I got home and checked my weekly pill holder thing I realized I had forgotten to take my 1000 mg of Met and my 15 mg of Actos PRIOR to the walk.

Congrats on making the hill! :congrats:

I've never tried for disability, but I would probably have no problem getting it since I have...a birth defect in my c-spine, been hit by a car, taken a nasty fall landing on my tailbone on some stairs & had someone fall into a pool & land on me (yeah, you wouldn't think that would be too bad, would ya? Me neither, but it totally paralyzed me for a good 2 minutes...I could feel, but not move except for talking/breathing once my ex pulled me to the surface!)

Now, hills are my nemesis...even a slight hill gets my back hurting & makes me feel like my legs are about to collapse. So, I have to give you a big "GOOD JOB!" because I know how tough it can be & it sounds like that hill is a doozy!

Unfortuntely, where I live there's nothing but hills. I'm going to ask a friend if I can use her pool for exercise...other friends say she lets them use it frequently so I think it will work out. At least in the summer I'll have a good workout!
