I switched to apidra from novalog about 2 months ago. I also moved to a summer schedule (teacher) shortly after, so I can't say too much about the insulin. Definite changes in personal patterns have given me more lows/highs to pay attention to. I am getting much more exercise, I've shifted my day from 5am-9pm to 7-8am-11pm+. Also I use the medtronics minimed and my quickset supplies were recalled last week for faulty delivery. I well may have been getting inaccurate delivery before switching to apidra. I well may have been getting inaccurate delivery before switching to apidra. I sure hate recording numbers and it is not my strong point. I am interested in what peole have to say as well. Too many variables on my part.

There seems a lot of variety as to how people's bodies deal with different insulins. Apidra "as advertised" is meant to be slight faster than Novo and Huma, so it's a case of being prepared for that if it occurs. As for strength, again, people have reported it being more effective, less effective... do a search on the board you'll get some of the feedback as well as what you get here.
I found it a bit sluggish and I needed to pump more Apidra compared to Novorapid. I also found I had side effects rather similar to Lantus - basically I started feeling very strange in the head, angry, emotional, couldn't think - I really did not feel well at all on Apidra and one week in I went back to Novorapid, feeling much better as the Apidra left my system, and completely restored in 2 days.
Such side effects are, hopefully, very rare. But that's what I found.

I started on Apidra two weeks ago and haven't had good results. As a result, I've just switched back to Novolin Rapid.
In the first 2 days with Apidra, results were predictable and consistant with the good results I've come to expect from my pump. On day three, BG tests became very high, despite providing numerous boluses. Eventually the Medtronic pump began giving error "No delivery" - which I had never seen before.
After a check of the Medtronic web site, I noticed a recall of a certain lot# of infusion sets which could lead to similar problems. I didn't want to blame the Apidra too quickly, so even though the recall wasn't for my lot#, I replaced the infusion set "just in case". Again, I received good results for about 1.5 days, only to have my BG readings begin to climb and eventually a "No delivery" message from the pump.
Based on these results, it appears my pump is not handling the Apidra well and may even be clogging after what I consider a short amount of time. Typically I get 3 days out of an infusion set (not the 1 -2 days with Apidra).
Anyway, I've gone back to the NovoRapid insulin and everything is back to normal.
I'd be interested to here what results others have had with Apidra and their insulin pumps.
