Give me all your advice for a Pregnancy and T1, please...

Hey Family,

Well my Husband is finally getting the long awaited surgery for his Varicocele. He will be "out" for month w/out us having sex (recovering). I have a daughter (16 now) and I feel as if I don't have touch with the care of having T1 and a pregnancy and I want to be as ready as possible. I am on a pump now, opposed to being on shots with my first pregnancy.
Please advise me as much as you can. (supplements, nutrition, tips etc......)

First of all CONGRATS!! on your pregnancy. I can't give any advice as i'm a bloke and have never been pregnant, but good luck and hope your fella gets better asap.

Not pregant yet, hopefully this will work as soon as he recovers and we can get to it. LOL

Great news about trying to have a baby. My pregnancy endocrinologist reccommended I take a high dose of folate in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy as babies of diabetics tend to have more defects in their spine than the regular population. : ) Find an endocrinologist as soon as you are pregnant as they are invaluable for helping you manage your diabetes during the first 12 weeks, which are most important for babies growth.:)

You'll want your optho involved (after pregnant ;)). Pregnancies can be very hard on the retinopathy. Your vessels may take off during the term.

Thank you everyone. I know that they eyes are compromised, BIG time!!! I pray to god everyday to take care of me. I've been good for over a year. We will begin working on this baby in August.

Did you mean after I become preganant or after the baby? Would you know what term is it that the vessels go crazy?
