OK.. I'm in need of some tips for trying to tone up... I feel like I am losing control of a good exercise regime coz of the realllllly bad weather we have been having (not an excuse I promise you!)
Usually on most days of the wk I take my dog with me joggin around down by the river and round the village.. bout 5ish or so miles... but can't do that atm 1) weather.. but 2) i twisted my ankle so dont think jogging would be good just yet!
So are there any indoor exercises that anyone can suggest.. I know there are a few and have been doing some.. but need some more inspiration! so any thoughts would be grateful!

Hi Sarah, Thanks for your reply to my site question!
I can sympathize with your exercise dilemma after running in 9 degrees in the dark on an icy high school track last night. Where is spring when ya need it?! :(
What about some yoga or pilates? I have a co-worker who does yoga a few times a week and swears by it for flexibility and toning up, plus she says it reduces her stress. She goes to a yoga studio but I have seen lots of inexpensive books and videos on the internet. I want to try it when I get some spare time.

oooh.. I had just been thinking about Yoga... as I saw an advert in our local shop saying that classes were going to start up soon, I did it at school as and extra activity and really enjoyed it, and it does give gd flexibility... I shall look into that when I next in the shop.
Thanks :)
np about the reply to your site question, just trying to help :)

hey Buzzborne! I like to walk/jog too but it has been nasty here as well. I usually just come inside and use the "dreadmill". LOL Pilates cardio videos are pretty cool too.

I would suggest to invest in a pair of light dumbells from Walmart or Kmart (they are cheap). There are tons of exercises you can do with them at home. Incorporate a chair to your routine and you can work almost any muscle in your body without putting stress on your ankle.
Also, Yoga is a great activity for toning, stretching and relaxing. Remember to use breathing techniques with your weights to get a decent aerobic exercise (Breath out when pushing and breath in when pulling).
This should help you mantain and develop tone and stamina for a few weeks while you nurture your injury.

Thanks for this suggestion :) ... will have to look them out.. Not from the US, so will try the sports shops in town or somewhere!!
Thanks Jenny for your suggestion as well :) Haven't really thought about doing Pilates before.
