Yes, it is true.

However they are talking about data from POORLY CONTROLLED D in pregnancy. Probably data from prior to the 70's ... or so. I mean when poorly controlled meant REALLY poorly controlled.

I know of several diabetic women who had excellent control during their pregnancies and delivered healthy babies. Once you learn there's a little one growing inside of you, I guarantee you will be doing everything in your power to make sure all goes well.

I have a daughter thats almost 16!! (arrrrgh)
I know how special this moment is. Its just been a very rough ride with Retinopathy for me and now, Thanks to my Lord, I am real good. My eyes have held up for a wonderful long time. I know the Csection is a must, but thats the least of my problems. I am just very concerned with the Retinopathy nad being pregnant issue. I do have a wonderful ophamologist team and my pump, which helps out A lot!

I also went through a pregnancy two years into type 1. Everything went really well and this was a long, long time ago before pumps and lantus. Delivery was perfectly normal, she was a bit large (8lb 10 oz) and they induced early. She's now a healthy grown up!

I know, My first pregnancy was perfect. My daughter is 16 and I had NO retinopathy. Now I do have it and its what I fear the most. I also have a pump which I didnt have with my first pregnancy.
