Not only am I Type II Diabetic,I also have Systemic Fungus/Candidiasis/Candida and can't eat a variety of Foods.Am having most difficult time devising an eating plan that is tailored for my specific needs.I don't eat Refined Sugar,Wheat,Corn,White Flour or White/Yellow Cornmeal..I try my best to steer clear of processed Foods, artificial colors, preservatives and Hydrogenated Oils..I limit Dairy to Organic Yogurt,Cottage Cheese and Buttermilk (probably shouldn't).I can't eat most Fruit and Yeast/Mold Foods EG: Peanuts,Peanut Butter,Cheese,Vinegar,Condiments etc.I want to avoid mid-high Glycemic Index Foods/Simple Carbs/Refined Grains, yet eat small servings of Complex Carbs,Unrefined Grains and keep my Diet low-Glycemic..I do NOT eat Wild Meat of ANY kind, but occasionally eat Red Meat..more of a Chicken (Breast),Turkey (Breast) and Fish eater, but wouldn't mind eating Soy/Tofu..I enjoy trying exotic Dishes..Since June 29 I have tried to no avail getting a referral from my PCP for an Appointment with an RD.I'm not sure if I really want to go to an RD coz I want to Work as a Team and am concerned the RD would suggest I eat 179-195 G's Carbs Daily!

Yeast thrives on carbs, so a low-carb deit should work just fine for that too.

Foxl,
Yes,Yeast thrives on Carbs and turns into Sugar too.I don't want to go Carbless, but want to incorporate a variety of Complex Carbs into my Diet, because they will provide Fuel/Energy..

Well ... all I can tell you is my experience and that is that I have not needed carbs to speak of, other than green veg and small amounts of fruit. My blood sugar is under much better control now.

And considering the known effects of chronic high blood sugar, Iwould focus on that over anything else. Systemic yeast infection is controversial as a diagnosis, at best.

I'd contact a nutritionist and explain your situation. Also found this link you may find helpful.

Irish,

Eating low-carb (30-50g/day,) I have had more energy than I have with more carbs. Before diagnosis I was having yeast infections regularly, but haven't had a single one since going low carb.
