Big Hmmm? morning here. This never ever happens to me. No idea why it's happening.

6:48am AST (EST + 1) = 6.7mmol/l which is normal
Bolused 2.7u of Novarapid (NR) over 30 minutes for my anticipated 15u of carbs in my greek yogurt

7:30am had the yogurt but wife offerred strawberries. Had the 10g or so of strawberries and bolused 1u NR.

9am felt weird. I actually felt weird all morning. Had enough hypo signs to warrant testing. 2.2 mmol/l!

Hoovered my lunch: 20g of carbs in cherries, maybe 6g in tomatoes, two boiled eggs with 3tbs of mayo, chunck'o cheese, almonds.

9:45 5.8 mmol/l

10:00 am Anticipated but didn't feel a rebound coming, so I bolused 3u for lunch and rebound. Logic says my nornmal 5u bolus + whatever, maybe 4-8u for the rebound. But I didn't.

10:30am 3.4!

11:10am (now) 3.5 !

Have to now drive to hospital for a lunch meeting (with co-worker along). At least I'll have someone with me and be near ER and diabetic teaching clinic and endo if I need help ;)

GDF disease!

Gonna eat 2 4g glucotabs. Will have 2 remaining.

Back in 3 or 4 hours, maybe.

Sounds like a frustrating morning. I hope the rest of you day goes more smoothly. I hate days like that.

Is it stress or activity? I guess you would have thought of that :D but ya never know. Have you changed insulin vials recently, might be that the old was one was becoming less effective and suddenly your hit with a big dose? You should be fine, just do the usual thing :D.

I am having a weird day to.

Had two big bowls of pasta and a tomato based sauce, bolused accordingly.

Actually I was conservative with my bolus.

I only waited 90 mins or so, tested, and I was 5.1, tested again a few mins later, the same.

There should be some kind of spike after the pasta, but nothing. I don't feel high either.

One idea, though it sounds extreme for that... change in season/weather?

I guess, maybe you didn't rebound, and that might make sense of why the post lunch hypo at least, due to the pre-emtive strike...

Fun and games! Hope it settles down... and hey, maybe you find yuorself that bit less insulin dependent for some reason... never know. ;)

sorry i dont really know much about ratios and what other people do with insulin. but for me if i ate 15g carbs for breakfast i would have one unit cos i know i'll be low by ten.
and then if i have 2 units i know ill need snack at about nine thirty/ten.

hey if you can do 2.7 are you on a pump? i've still just got the pen thing that doesnt even do half units.

do you find you're more sensitive to insulin in the morning while you still have some long acting insulin kicking around?

All I know, is I am running with it.

Currently stuffing my face with a DQ Strawberry Quake Blizzard.

Hey, I am not going to let this freaky day pass me by without fully taking advantage of it. :D

Late last night I had a couple of Miller Lights my dad brought me from Maine. I also had about 30 almonds. I can't see either of these affecting my morning pp's.

The previous few days I've been having some big liver dmps with my meals due to high protein. Gluconeogenesis uses up Glucagon, I believe. I figure I've been pushing the protein too much and had nothing left in the tank this morning. Only thing that makes sense to me.

I changed my set first thing too and didn't do a fixed prime, so I was 1 unit short on my calcs. I shouldn't have gone low.

It's been a day from **** for sure. Had another lunch before my meeting, a salad with zero carbs. During the meeting I was feeling high, so I dialed a couple of units. Got out at 1pm and tested at 4.0! ****. I had bought a choc bar, so I downed half of it.

Afternoon was fine until around 4pm when i was up in the 8's. I took about 4 units and ate the other half of the bar. No willpower! Left at 5pm and tested at 12. **** again. Took 4 units. Got home and ate a low carb meal but bolused heavy and laid down for half an hour. Woke up at 18.8!

I figured it was bad hormone waves because the new set this morning was working too well. Went for a 20 minute walk. An hour later I'm 18.2. I'm thinking it's not going up, so I might be on the mend. 30 minutes later I'm 20.2!

Set change and large correction with syringe. I'm now down to low 10's a few hours later. Yay. I'll be up half the night testing.

Pumpers don't use long acting unsulin, only fast acting. I use Novarapid (Novolog).

I'm having the same issue. I was having a Skittles craving today -- actually, I've been having a Skittles craving for a week. I avoid them because they are REALLY high carb. But I had two small bags (the kind you get at cash registers), totalling 106 carbs. I spaced them out over a few hours, bolused accordingly as well. I started the second bag (and second bolus) around 7:30pm at the break in my class-- it's 10pm and my sugar is 75. SO MESSED UP. I've fulfilled the Skittles craving at this class before, and I usually wind up around 140-160 from a bag.

One of those special "pump" days. I don't know about you, but even though my control was like a daily battleground on MDI, when the pump gets involved with things breaking down it does it good. There's one good thing. It will be over at some stage. :)

xMenace, I know how you feel. Don't let the numbers get you down.

Keep testing and eat properly at the right times, once you get back the "rythm" it'll get better.
