As long as your numbers are good, then I don't see a problem. Obviously it's not healthy to eat a lot of junk food so I'd try to keep to healthier snacks. Keep a close eye on your numbers, and maybe test more often to make sure your numbers are in range. You're at an age (from what I've read) when things can get difficult to manage at times so it's important to be vigilant.

Im new to diabetes too and I often eat out of schedule. luck for you that you have your bs levles under control. I dont yet. Im still trying to figure out how things effect my bs. I have a 14 month old son and he throws my schedule of all the time. One example is that he does not sleep through the night which means I dont get any sleep eaither. I dont mean to but I sleep in sometimes and it messes up my schedule for the whole day. I try my best to eat when I should but eating healthy is a major key for me.

Hi! Being 14 yrs old and 3-months new to diabetes means that you may still be producing some insulin on your own. Has your doctor told you about the "honeymoon period" during which your own body decides to take over insulin production temporarily, and things seem to go back to "normal", bg-wise?
This may be the reason that your control seems to be OK although you're indulging in unscheduled snacks. Also, it could be that you are an active 14 yr. old, and when you're with your friends after school, you may need a snack occasionally just to keep you from going hypo.
What insulin regimen are you on at this time? This information would help us to help you a lot more--it would give an indication as to whether you're in "honeymoon" or not.
It sounds like you're interested in learning, and thats good!
