I have excessive sweating around the back of my neck whenever I do any type of activity, even just going to the store. I am also age 52, menopause age, however I am not through it yet. Can sweating be a symptom of being prediabetic?

I do get sweaty when my blood sugars are low...but I also get sweaty when i'm outside during this heatwave we've been having as well...and sometimes I just wakeup sweaty due to my perimenopausal symptoms. Wouldn't think that sweating alone would be a symptom of diabetes.

Is this something that's just happened since you were diagnosed pre-D?

I don't know if I should be answering this because I'm a man, BUT, my wife has been going through menopause for some time now. When she gets a "hot flash" one of the results is excessive sweating alternating with a chill as she goes rides the hormone rollercoaster. Not quite what you described a sweating from activity.

excessive sweating from being prediabetic is unlikly unless you are experiencing a high/low to your norm, or sudden change in BS's. Do you check your BS's often enough to track your normal, and any highs or lows?

Just my unqualified 2 copper's.(cents)

This is never listed as a symptom of diabetes, and most pre-Ds do not have typical diabetes symptoms. I've had sugars as high as 300 (not for any sustained length of time) and never had any real symptoms you see listed. Instead, I experienced symptoms of lows: feeling shaky/weak, craving sugar like it was nobody's business to make the feeling go away. Yeah, you can get sweaty, but it wa not necessarily once specific area.

If it occurs everytime you do activity, it's probably a product of menopause and physical exertion. Have you actually been diagnosed or are you worried you have prediabetes?

Hi Mirglip!

Your question asks if excessive and site specific sweating can be related to a diagnosis of being Pre-Dialbetic. Probably not.

What are your Blood Glucose (BG) numbers? Do you have any other symptoms or conditions that could lead to diabetes? Those are the real indicators of what can trigger a Pre-D diagnosis.
