Are you on metformin? If so, this can definitely be a side effect. If not, then perhaps you have a touch of irritable bowel.

Gas can be the results of lots of things, mostly due to reactions to what either your eating or some medication as Linda mentioned. Some kinds of foods are worse than others about it for me and with occasional irritable bowel problems even some stress can cause trouble.

LOL, been there done that.

I personally think the increased gas is due to my increase in fiber, fat, protein since being diagnosed. Previously I was on a high carb, all sugar, little protein, almost no fiber diet. I assume that my new diet of protein and fiber is causing the gas. Hoping that in time my body will become accustomed to my new diet and settle down a bit.

Maybe the same for you?

I think that any significant change to your dietary habits will have an effect on your digestive tract and may take some days or even weeks of adjustment.

This publication THE SACCHARINE DISEASE - Conditions caused by the Taking of Refined Carbohydrates, such as Sugar and White Flour - T. L. CLEAVE, M.R.C.P. (http://www.journeytoforever.org/farm_library/Cleave/cleave_toc.html) raises the suggestion that refined/concentrated carbohydrates lead to fermentation in the digestive tract and goes on to suggest that in his experience, the waste product from a traditional (real whole unprocessed food) diet does not have an offensive odour.
