I'm finding that my BS #'s for the day are actually higher on the days I exercise (which is 4x a week) On the days I don't, I tend to actually go hypo (have seen 50, 57 and 64, within one week) I'm not on any med's and I can't figure this out!

when you exercise you system(liver) releases glucose. Some times you can keep that from happing is to eat some carbs before you start

its really wierd how different peoples bodies act differently.

Its quite common for different kinds of exercise to raise some peoples blood sugar.

For others like me exercise ONLY lowers readings

I'm with jtausch. try a little juice or a granola bar 30 min before you exercise and see if that doesn't help.

I have the same issue. I exercise in the evening after work but before dinner. My numbers are the highest of the day when I come home after exercising (usually between 95-105). Eating something before I workout doesn't help.

When I get home, I take my meds and eat dinner. Two hours after dinner my bs drops between 60-70 (due to the exercise).

I asked my dr about this and like what the other posters have said, he told me that exercise can increase your bs levels. He told me that the benefit of exercise outweighs the slight rise in bs levels (at least in my case) and as long as it comes down not to worry about it.

Eating something might help you, but like I said it doesn't do anything for me.

is there really something wrong with blood a blood sugar level between 95 and 105? I thought that was normal levels.

thats normal, but apparently higher than usual for that person coming home from work on an empty stomach.

excesize raised my bs for awhile. then all that stopped and turned around.

huh.

For me if I take a brisk walk my BG does better than if I do a heavy cardio workout. The harder I work out the worse my BG is, even a small snack didn't work for me so I stick with the long walks but never over 60 min. (that is what works for me anyway)

Thanks everyone for you insight. I'm not so much concerned that my BS is raising on the days I exercise, b/c it's still within normal levels. I'm more concerned with the fact that on the days I don't exercise, I'm going hypo.
