Do any of you dive with a pump. On Scubaboard.com there is currently a debate about this and one guy has posted a link about a diver whos takes the pump with him on the dives. This seems a bit dangerous in terms of the pump malfunctioning under pressure but I don't know enough about them to offer any useful advice. Any comments would be welcomed.

At last it has been good to find some other people with diabetes who dive :D . I was starting to feel that prehaps I was being a bit extreme in wanting to dive and I have seen some negative comments about diabetics even thinking about diving. My usual dive buddy has always been very supportive and knows a great deal about what to do if I should need his help. Other divers are less helpful, prehaps because of their lack of understanding of diabetes :( . I am not crazy afterall :-

I didn't see this thread.

I sure wouldn't take the pump diving. About two weeks ago I did a little diving done Flordia. I took a small bolus and disconnect from the pump. I put the pump wrap in my tshirt and put it in a dry place on the boat. I didn't have one of those water tight cases. When I was done I hooked back up.

That was only for a hour. you shouldn't disconnect for more than a hour, I think.

Diabetes shouldn't stop you from doing the things you want to do. You just have to be careful and make sure the people around you know whats going on.

This seems to be the general consesus on scubaboard now. One guy has admitted that he took his pump on a dive and it broke....what a surprise.
