I figured out that having to eat every 2 -3 hrs makes it very difficult to lose weight. I work out 6 days a week and eat low carb and pretty much all natural, not refined or packaged. I do not eat dairy products, splenda, sugar. If I don't eat every 2 to 3 hrs I feel shaky , I have T 1.5. Haven't lost any weight since April. Saw a Naturopath and she said she doesn't believe I am a Diabetic . DON'T LAUGH!!!! She said I have low Vitamin D, low lipoic acid, Low zinc and gave me a blood test and told me she believes I have arsenic in my system and because of this my immune system is in jeapordy. Thus, body attacking beta cells. I am so-o-o confused !!!!

What are you eating... can you give examples? I have found that with the greater proportions of fat and protein in a low-carb diet, my BG is very much more stable than it has been for many years and I don't seem to run low -- or high -- on energy these days.
I can also go for many hours between meals and even skip meals without feeling a dip... its like I have a reserve tank nowadays... but then I guess I do as with much lower insulin levels my body IS able to utlilise my fat stores for energy -- which it cannot do when insulin levels are raised.

Pands,
I have heard of the "arsenic" thing several times - unfortunately, for both type 1 & type 2 diabetics (which doesn't make sense because they're not the same & obviously not caused by the same thing.) Usually, when I've seen it, it's a ploy to get you to buy a product which "cleanses the arsenic from your system."
Also, I second Frank's question - what are you eating?
Also, when you are shaky, have you tested your blood sugar?

Hi everyone....I am new to this and this is my first time posting a message anywhere. My husband was diagosed with type 2 diabetes 13 months ago. He also had high cholesterol and high blood pressure. He went on a low glycemic index diet and has lost 30 pounds and his diabetes, cholesterol and blood pressure are normal. This is the best diet ever because it's a diet you can live with for the rest of your life.

For everyone who asked me what it was that I eat on any given day: For breakfast I have 1/2 c of steel cut organic oatmeal with 1 tsp chia seeds, 1 tsp flax seeds, and 1- 1/2 tsp yucca sweetner, 1 jasmin green tea.
2 hrs later after workout I have 1 5oo ml water bottle ,an apple, pear or nuts( hand full of almonds) If I did 1 hr of hard cardio then I am still starving.
Lunch: a salad with chicken, tuna, italian dressing and/ or 1 whole wheat wrap with veggies and chicken or turkey, 1 fruit
2-3 hrs later a handful of nuts almonds, walnuts or pecans. 1 green tea.
Dinner:
5-6 ounces of fish, chicken, beef steamed veggies, sometimes, 2 tbs of whole wheat pasta, or wild rice.
2-3 hrs later a herbal tea, a sugar free jello, and/ or pudding.
I still find I am hungry and NOT satisfied. When I cut out all the carbs in past I felt weak . When I omit breads, pasta, potatoes, rice now , I start to feel shaky 2 hrs after eating.
