I found out 3 weeks ago that I'm pregnant - excited and scared. I'm on the Paradigm pump and use the sensor too. The last few days I've been running super low - can't make it thru the night without getting up twice for lows. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm considering changing my basal rate. Also, I have my first app't tomorrow to get an ultrasound. I am seeing a nurse for the diabetes part of the pregnancy and then a regular OB/GYN that will actually deliver the baby. I'm interested in hearing others situations. My friend only saw a high risk OBGYN that handled everything. I liked my approach better b/c this nurse specializes only in diabetic pregnancies and is more readily available for questions than a doctor. I'm new to this forum and excited to have somebody to run things by!!

Congratulations - very exciting ;o How low is low? I don't really know, but I would think you might need to ease back on the basal as you said and keep out of the hypo zone especially in the early weeks what does your endo say? - does anyone else have some knowledge here?

The same thing is happening to me. I am a Type 1 (22 years) and I am 8 wks pregnant. I just read this on the JDRF website: "Early stages: Your insulin needs may go down during the early stages of pregnancy. This is because the rapidly developing fetus is removing glucose from your body at a very great rate. Also, morning sickness may cut your appetite and, therefore, the need for insulin will be reduced."

Makes sense to me!

Good luck!
