Anyone know of a good scale for people who are extremely overweight, like in the neighborhood of 400lbs?

Can you ask your doctor if they'll let you weigh in every 2 weeks?
If they'll let you, you'll find it a much better motivator. When you weigh yourself too often, people tend to get depressed about the daily fluctuations & loose resolve because they don't see themselves getting the results. Plus you'll have the added incentive of someone else seeng your number. :D

Thanks a bunch... I was actually wondering moreso if anyone had a particular scale they knew of that worked well. I have a scale that weighs that much; but it's not accurate apparently.

The scales don't have to be exactly accurate as long as they are relatively accurate! That means the are almost the same amount off every day you use it. You can mentally adjust for what it is off by.
I found that at 330 lbs any scale I got on would give a different weight by up to 5 lbs different within seconds or reweighing myself on the same scale. As I got down in weight, the scale appeared to be more stable. Today at 220, I am only off by 1 lbs either way when I get on the scale and off again then on again. I think the springs move too much at the higher weights.
You will find a analog scale is likely to show that movement as you stand on the scale. A digital one has to take samples and average them to get your weight. So it may average wrong from time to time by a little.

I have to comment on the weighing yourself daily concept.
There are different kinds of people. The emotional types should not weight themselves very often if they can't handle the truth! But those of us who are analytical in nature love to weight ourselves every couple of hours if possible! It's like testing blood sugar more often. We learn the patterns of what we eat, work, exercise, and otherwise do and how it affects weight. Then we can make logical choices about what a particular action will cause and then prove it by weighing again.
I find that weighing myself 3-4 times a day and recording the weight in the morning just before my shower (strategically chosen because it's the lowest weight of the day) helps me to understand my body and what I need to do for it. I graph that log and have a great visual to help me and my doctor understand what is happening.
I know that is not for everyone, but some of us really thrive on data, and could care less about the emotional part of it. I don't want to offend anyone who is emotional. Just pointing out that everyone is different with what works and does not for them.
Then again, there was last Sunday when I went out on a boat cruise and brewery tour in downtown Milwaukee. Drank 9 beers in about 3 hours! The most I have had in one day in about a year. Gained 7 lbs that day alone. :( I can for sure say that was not a good idea. Drinking that much, not the weighing. Weighing just reinforced to me that I should not drink that much for weight reasons also! We won't discuss how horrible I felt Monday morning. ;) Now I am fighting with myself because our beer club has a meeting tomorrow where I will have a dozen beers to sample. I have to keep them down to 1-2 oz samples! Then Saturday is the Great Taste of the Midwest which is the best beer festival in the Midwest. Like 500 or so beers to pick from! I will again have to limit my sampling because I already gained too much weight this week. :( To punish myself, I am exercising an extra 40 minutes every day. It is working because I lost 5 of those 7 lbs already in 3 days.
Weighing more than once a day works for me. It might not for you!

I had a hard time finding a scale that would read at the higher end a few years ago.Weight watchers makes several models that will read at the upper ranges for about $25 US.I still have mine after 3yrs is still working well.Good luck
Once again, that just proves how different we all are. I do not have a scale at home. As my weight loss has been steady though slow, at one pound per week, I might have gotten discouraged at daily weighing. But because I have had little success in weight loss previous to low carbing, and knowing I was very insulin resistant, it was pleasant to step on the Dr.'s scale every 6 weeks and see a steady improvement. It does add up, 30 weeks = 30 lbs.

Yeah, I'm not planning to weigh daily or anything... but it would be nice to be able to do it weekly, and I don't want to get something that my husband cannot use with me. I figure that may be a bit of a slap in the face for him. He won't tell me how much he weighs, so now I've asked him to find a scale for us, as the one I bought doesn't even work. Literally. Ugh.
