Hey people!

So I had an idea to create a website in which people can read the stories of those diagnosed and what it was like for them in the start, what happened, how they felt, etc.

If anyone would be willing to share their story it would help out my site greatly as well as everyone out there who have been recently diagnosed who can benefit from your words.

Site: Diagnosed: Living With Juvenile Diabetes (http://type1s.wordpress.com/)

The more people I can get to write a story, the better, so spread the word.

Lexd:

My story goes back 39 years when I was diagnosed with T1 at the age of 2! Mom and dad reflected these details to me over the years and.......I love them!
I remember being in the hospital for first diagnosis and treatment. One evening, the floor nurse placed my evening meal on my bed table. The meal had one small plate of ham. On the other side was a small cup of orange sherbet ice cream with a wooden spoon. I looked at the ham. I could smell the ham's aroma and........just did not like ham. The nurse stood in the doorway and said "Bobby, if you eat the ham, you can have the ice cream". I looked at her and started to.......cry. The nurse felt so bad that she sat next to me and gave me comfort. A few minutes in, she opened the orange sherbet, gave me a hug and said "it's okay. You can have orange ice cream". Remember, I am 2 years old, still in diapers. Mom and dad were not their due to working long hours trying to meet our families needs. They were from another country coming into Canada poor. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at a very young age.
I have many more stories to tell. Let me know when and how? Thanx.

Please, Please, Please have your autoantibodies checked. I was about your age when I began suffering from my type 2 misdiagnosis. I am now 24 and trying to repair the damage that has been done to my body.
