The zero-carb margarita was great, but I shoulda checked first. Lipitor sez don't take with grapefruit juice. So on a hunch, I checked the Fresca, and yep . . . "concentrated grapefruit juice".
My question is: Does this mean just don't swallow the pill with grapefruit juice, or never Never NEVER ingest grapefruit while you're using the drug?
I feel like screaming, but I'm gonna wait for some feedback from y'all.

their a few things that contraindicate grapefuit juice. I think MAO inhibitors are one. I was on something once where I could never have grapefruit juice.
I would ask the pharmisist. it is a really good question.
I just found it

Yikes Granny, who knew certain foods could be so dangerous? I just found out I can't eat Avacados because of the Coumadin.
I wonder what other food dangers are waiting to bite me now?

WOW you have me thinking ... I love Fresca but DH buys diet Squirt ... what about IT? Yipe!
(I take my statin the morning though, so it should not be an issue, though -- I think the rxn is in the gut lumen only?).

I think grapefruit causes Lipitor to hang around in your system longer and increases the effect of the medication. I was on Lipitor for a year and the first thing I did when I was told to stop taking it was to run out and buy grapefruit, which I love. I honestly don't think Fresca is going to cause any problems, unless you drink gallons of it every day. The amount of actual grapefruit in it must be miniscule.

Foxl . . . diet Squirt also has concentrated grapefruit juice.
Poodlebone . . . I think you're most likely right, and here's a guy who's actually done the math (at least on diet Squirt . . .)! Torgo - The Torgo Blog: Diet Squirt and Vytorin? (http://www.torgo.org/blog/2005/09/diet-squirt-and-vytorin.shtml)
OH, funny!
Well if it only SLOWS metabolism, it could actually improve my numbers, right? :D
In moderation of course ...
