I ordered a meter case from Ditti Bags and absolutely love it. However, I ran into a problem today (that is really my own fault.) I was at work and we had a heat advisory out, it was probably over 100. Not really thinking, I stuffed it into my pocket. When I went to get my meter out, the elastric strap that holds the meter in place had literally adhered to the screen. I cannot read the screen at all because a thick layer of some kind of adhesive was left behind. I am currently trying Goo Gone to see if that will remove it since that is my good meter (stupid of me, I know).

So if you are using a meter case with elastic, make sure not to expose it to high temperatures. I'm hoping I can salvage my meter. Does anybody know something else to try if the Goo Gone does not work?

WD40? (just a shot in the dark, but it removes lots of other things . . .) Maybe lighter fluid, and if all else fails, I've used polish remover, but that's a last resort, because polish remover (acetone) can do damage itself.

I'm on the phone with LifeScan now and they said that if they cannot help me get it off they will replace it! They have just raised themselves very much in my mind.

Take up the offer of a new meter! It's safer than messing abt with stuff tht may or may not work. I have a onetouch meter too and the same thing can happen, i don't really have an answer other than putting some tissue between the plastic and the screen, but then you keep having to put it back.

To help if that happens again, before hand, since doing the tissue thing would get old, how about getting an LCD screen, like for cell phones and such, just cut it to size and put on screen, saves screen from scratching and can be pulled off and replaced in a snap.

They're sending me a new meter! The problem is it's not like a sticky residue, it is literally a quarter inch thick layer that is now completely adhered to my screen. I tried to get it off but to no avail. I do like the idea of using a screen protector. For now I am just going to keep it screen side facing down while in the case and then make sure that when I'm at work it stays in the panel room.

My old meter actually had its name written across the top in purple glitter paint. Some companies are doing skins, I love that idea. I wish they would make skins for the Ultra Smart. My life would be complete.
