Just diagnosed to be diabetic 3 weeks ago. I am new to dieting, and just started reducing carbohydrate intake. Before diagnosis I ate mainly rice. Now trying to put any kind of vegs in my diet. Still have rice about 100 gr everyday. Looks like it work to control my BG. My fasting BG ranges 88-93.
I am slightly worry about decreasing BG approaching hypoglycaemia. Last night I found it 66.
Any advice on dieting is appreciated

How often are you eating? I only ask because some of us have to eat every 3-4 hours to keep our bg in line

Hello Moonglo amd Yannah
I have 3 times meals plus some snacks such as peanuts, plain agar.
Docs prescribed me metformin 500gr/day but I do not usually take it since my BG recently has been controllable.

Be very careful about not taking the metformin. I know it has some pretty rough side effects at first, but I promise they get better eventually. If your doctor thinks you need them, I would at least discuss this with them before deciding on my own to not take it.
I don't mean to be harsh. It's just that I did that when I was prediabetic, and it really hurt me. If you're that convinced that you don't need the metformin, please call your doctor's office and get their advice on the matter before making a decision like that.
I know that you are worried about hypoglycemia, but metformin is not supposed to cause lows like that. You may need to keep something sugary with you (candy, juice etc) in case you go low like that.

Moonglo thanks, I will ask the dr. Actually there is no rough effect such as gastric pain, etc, except that I have become more sweaty.
