Jackie,

I have considered yoga and even acquired a book on it, but haven't tried but a couple of poses. I was in the grocery store and found "Yoga Journal" on the newsstand. The flexibility of some of those people was amazingly impressive.

The local public libray here has a bulletin board for various classes in the area. There is a yoga class listed. Maybe you could find something similar in your area. The class here is inexpensive. It might be a good way to give it a try with someone knowledgeable to assist and guide you.

I think I will stand and stretch now.;)

The community college in your area probably offers a yoga class for a reasonable price. It is pretty cheap where I am. And you can get PE credits if you ever decide to go back to college.

I recently bought Yoga For Dummies on tape, since classes here are few and far between. It's very easy to follow and actually kind of fun. I have however realized that I have no sense of balance and no flexibility to speak of, but the more I do it I'm sure it will improve. I'm really good at lying on the floor and breathing out through my fingers and toes though. ;)

Hey, I have been very active lately. And I got my treadmill working yesterday. I went for a 20min walk to no where.

Come on, I am not that bad Travis!:p I prefer to lie on a couch or a bed anyway;)

I don't know about breathing through my fingers though. I usually use my nose or mouth for that. :D :D :D

Hi all,

I've been doing Ashtanga Yoga for 2 1/2 yrs. I love it! I took classes for 1 1/2 yrs and now do it at home on my own. In Ashtanga they heat the room to 90 degrees and then you do a spacific series of postures in order. It's very vigerous and I loved it. And WOW the muscles I have now! And the flexibility. I have backed off a bit laitly cuz I had an injury. You have to be carefull doing this kind of yoga. Some of the teachers push you a bit too much. You really have to listen to your body. check out www.baronbaptiste.com
By the way you really want to cut back on your insulin before this kind of Yoga class. Its not really for begining yogis even if they say it is. I wear an insulin pump and will usually do Yoga in the morning before food or extera insulin. The dawn phanomanon helps keep me from crashing during classes in the Am.
Hope I was helpful.

I have never heard of Ashtanga. How do they heat the room? Is it like a sauna or steam room? Or do you just crank up the heater?
